Consequence
and Sequel (C&S)

Description
Consequence and Sequel is the process of
looking ahead to see the consequences of an action, a plan, a decision, a rule
or an invention. C&S deals with
what may happen after a decision has been made. It examines immediate, short term (1 to 5 years), medium
term (5 to 15 years) and long term
(over 25 years) consequences. The
intention of C&S is to enlarge
the view of an action beyond the immediate effect. An action may seem good if
the short term effect is positive. But the importance of longer term
consequences must also be evaluated.
Procedure

Tips
1. Other people can sometimes see the consequences of actions more
easily than yourself.
2. It is important to know whether the consequences of an action are
reversible or not.
3. The immediate consequences and long term consequences can often by
opposite in effect.
4. Examine the consequences not only from your point of view, but from
other people’s perspectives as well.
